Departmental Units
At present following departmental units of the Board are working.
- Revived Saran jam Karyalaya:-
The unit manufacture, Bee-Box,Smoker,Honey Extractor and other Bee-Keeping implements. - Honey Processing unit:-
The unit procures raw honey from Bee-Keepers of the State and after processing & bottling, the processed honey is sold. - Village Oil Units:-
The units procure mustard seeds & extract Mustard Oil through power Ghani. - Gramodyog Sales Depot:-
This is the State Level Sales Counter having two branches, one in the premises of OK&VIBoard at Kharvelnagar & other inside Odisha Secretariate. Khadi & V.I.products produced by entrepreneurs / Institutions financed by KVIB/KVIC from inside & out side states are sold in the Sale Counter.
Staff Position
For implementation of different scheme of KVIC, Govt. of Odisha had sanctioned 383 no’s of post in favour of the Board. Out of which 173 no’s of post have been abolished reducing total sanction strength to 210 out of this 40 posts lying vacant.
Brief note on progress and programmes of ODISHA KHADI & VI BOARD.
Introduction:
Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board which started functioning from the 15th June 1956 was constituted as a Statutory Board under the OK&VIB act of 1955 for organising, developing and regulating Khadi & Village Industries in the State with a view to providing gainful employment to ruralite artisans and economically backward class of people.
The Board has been carrying out programmes and implementing schemes of Khadi & Village Industries Commission while the establishment expenses of the Board have been borne by the Government of Odisha.
Pattern of Assistance: (1956-95)
From inception till 1995, the Board implemented pattern approach assistance schemes as per pattern of assistance prescribed by the KVIC. During this period 98824 artisans were provided with total loan to the tune of Rs.41,57,58,087/- @ 4% interest and Rs. 5,48,97,482/- grant through 1865 nos. of KVI co-operative societies and institutions. As on date, an amount of Rs.16,59,07,835/- towards principal and an amount of Rs. 6,16,06,323/- towards interest have been recovered.
With the change of policy of the KVIC Project approach schemes for financial assistance were adopted. Accordingly Odisha Khadi & VI Board provided financial assistances to individual entrepreneurs under scheme viz. Consortium Bank Credit (CBC)from 1996-1999, Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP) from 1999 to 2008 and PrimeMinster Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) from 2008-09.
Progress in the above mentioned schemes are stated hereunder:

In the aforesaid scenario of progress and activities of the Odisha Khadi & VI Board, the present Board have expeditiously endeavored to bring forth radical developments in the field of employment generation, public awareness, inter state trade relations, marketing of KVI products and participation of State Government in implementation of KVI programmes in the State in public interest.
From 22.11 2010 till date, Board has passed 30 resolutions with a view to revamping Board's activities. Some of the resolutions have already been translated in to successful achievements and some are in the pipelines.
Achievements:
Re-introduction of Rebate:
i) Re-introduction of Govt. rebate@ 10% on sales of khadi and polyvastra from 2011-12 has rendered tremendous effect to boost sales of khadi & polyvastra. During the year2011-12 Govt. provided funds to the tune of Rs. 15.00 lacs to allow 10% rebate on sales of khadi & polyvastra for 108 specific festival days. This has resulted in gross sales of 1.50 crores during the rebate period and 25.00 lacs during non-rebate period of 257 days. For the year 2012-13, Govt. have provided funds to the tune of Rs. 30.00 lacs and it has been targeted to achieve sales of khadi and polyvastra to the tune of Rs.4.00 crores.
ii) Renovation of Khadi Gramodyog sales Depot:
Renovation of Khadi Gramodyog Sales Depot of the Board is a land mark in giving a new dimension to sales of khadi and village industries products. All sincere efforts have been made to make it one of the best buyer's choice shopping centre like that of famous khadi bhawan of KVIC at Connought place, New Delhi with all modern amenities and varieties of khadi clothing and artisan products. It has been inaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister for MSME and Health and Family Welfare on the 15th August in presence of the Hon'ble MP, Bhubaneswar, 3 Hon'ble local MLA's a number of high officers of Government of Odisha and Government of India and many eminent Gandhian activists and freedom fightersIt was resolved in the Board meeting held on 22.12.2010 and Government was moved vide letter NO.51. dt.04.01.2011 to provide funds to the tune of Rs.10,21,000/- for the purpose accordingly. Government of Odisha provided Rs. 10.00 lacs and KVIC Rs.2.02 lacs for this renovation and modernization. It is worth mentioning here that during the period of one month from the 15th August to the 1`5th September an all time record sales of Rs. 4.37 lacs have been achieved. We have the target to surpass sales to the tune of Rs. 1.00 in the 1st year.
iii) Renovation of khadi activities :
Renovation of khadi activities and revival of 40 nos. of khadi societies and institutions of Odisha Khadi & VI Board is one of the prime achievement of the Odisha Khadi & VI Board. As per decision of Govt. of Odisha, the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) has undertaken the survey works for which Government have provided Rs. 15.00 lacs. The XIMB has already completed survey and has submitted its explicit report. An amount of Rs. 10,42,50,000/- has been estimated to be required for wholesome revival of 40 nos. of khadi societies and institutions, the estimates include construction of shed, working capital and capital expenditure. This world provide direct employment for thousands of khadi artisans and similar nos. of assured indirect employment in rural sector of the State. Government being moved to provide funds in the 1st supplementary budget.
iv) Direct enlistment of 300 nos. of khadi societies and institutions :
Besides revival of 40 nos. of existing khadi societies and institutions, the Board has resolved for establishment of 300 nos. of new khadi societies in the State under direct enlistment of new khadi societies scheme of KVIC. Keeping in view the requirements of school dresses in School and Mass Education Deptt. and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Depts. Govt. of Odisha involving approximate amount to the tune of Rs.250.00 crores and Rs. 50.00 crores respectively. It has been targeted to complete organization of 100 nos. of new khadi societies and institutions during the current year and forward their documents to KVIC, Mumbai for enlistment. The work is in rapid progress in coordination with the State Directorate of KVIC. As on date documents of 63 nos. of new khadi societies have been received and are bei9ng processed out of which 33 nos. of documents have already been submitted to the State office of KVIC for onward transmission of the same to KVIC for direct enlistment.
